We can’t believe it is time for another monthly update. Olivia turned 10 months old on Saturday and the first birthday will be here before we know it!
It seems as though every day Olivia is accomplishing something else or learning something new. She also is comprehending so much more these days.
Here are some highlights over the past month:
She is able to walk by pushing her walker or a push toy.
She walks both front and back in her walker.
She gives people “kisses” by puckering her mouth.
She loves to dance to music from her music table her Aunt Sandra gave her.
She is clapping her hands.
She understands what “up” and “down” means and moves up and down accordingly.
Instead of saying “at” for the cats, she now says “ccc…at.”
She routinely tells people “hi” or “bye” while waving.
She knows sign language for “eat” and uses it when she wants to eat.
When she is ready to nap, she gets her blanket and crawls into your lap.
She pretend eats with her pot of vegetables toy from her Aunt Victoria, Uncle Dave and Cousin Maxine.
She can now push herself while riding her princess car from Ma’Kulu and Gramps.
She is showing interest in puzzles, especially taking out the puzzle pieces. She also likes stacking and unstacking blocks and boxes.
She also likes her dolls more and smiles every time she sees them. She has even started to “hug” her dolls.
New foods this month include apples, whole grain/wheat bread, and cheese (which is her absolute favorite and can’t be given until after she eats her other food). She also loves whole milk yogurt now and is enjoying more variety in finger food like cheese toast, kiwi, sweet potato, baked potato, pear, tofu, and banana. Green beans and broccoli are Olivia’s least favorite foods, but we can usually get her to eat some of them if given with cheese. We also have to mix her peas with carrots to get her to eat them. We hope Olivia eventually likes green veggies, but until then we will continue to get her to try them often so she will hopefully start to develop a taste for her green veggies.
