Monday Moments: St. Simons

We spent the long weekend at St. Simons with Nana and Poppy. I grew up near St. Simons, but Olivia had never visited. Of course the weekend we decided to go there were record cold temperatures (brrr) but we bundled up and had a blast anyway.

When we arrived Friday night Olivia insisted on seeing the beach. So we took her to the pier and she ran and ran. She was fascinated by the 2 lonely fishermen on the pier and wanted to wait until they caught a fish. It was a bit too cold for that so we enticed her with the playground. She was the only child swinging at 8 PM at night in 40 degree weather, but she squealed and had a blast!

On Saturday we visited Fort Frederica because they were having reenactments. Olivia loved all the activities, including the colonial games.

Sunday we visited the GA Sea Turtle Center. That place was really neat especially when we saw all the turtle patients.

We also explored the Historic Jekyll Hotel so Olivia could see where Mark and I were married (almost 7 years ago) and Nana and Poppy were married (almost 40 years ago). Olivia always looks at the wedding pictures so we took her to the Horton House remnants so she could see it in person.

Olivia also had her first experience putt putting. She said it was her favorite activity from the weekend. She quickly got the hang of the game and kept telling the ball "to go find your home."
