Before the tree comes down and the decorations are boxed up I wanted to share some from our Christmas. Every bit of it was wonderful-exhaustingly fantastic!
Olivia is at the age where she understands Christmas-both the true meaning of Christmas and the fun Santa part. We had fun with our Elf Lulu and enjoyed hearing her sing Away in a Manager for her school Christmas concert.
On Christmas Eve Olivia helped me make peppermint popcorn and bake cookies for Santa. We made reindeer food which we spread on the lawn and managed a few family pictures.
Then we attended a Christmas Eve service and Olivia sang the songs she knew loudly (and Gracelyn slept, thank goodness). After that, we enjoyed crab stew (a Christmas Eve tradition for my family) and read a few books together and opened several presents. For the second year, we have tracked Santa on NORAD which excites Olivia and helps the anticipation build.
After Olivia and Gracelyn went to sleep the elves were busy working to create this for Christmas morning.
When Olivia woke she first asked “I wonder if Santa brought me everything I wanted.” She was thrilled to see Santa brought her the pink Ring Around the Rosy doll. She also loved her tablet and makeup. Santa came up with a few other items that she is enjoying as well! After opening presents we enjoyed a Christmas brunch while my parents headed to Augusta for the other family gathering.
Our little family enjoyed playing with new toys in our pjs and doing a bit more cooking before we headed to Mark’s family Christmas dinner. The cousins enjoyed telling each other what they got for Christmas, but giving cousin Sarah a makeover was the highlight for the girls.
It was an absolutely wonderful Christmas. Gracelyn even seemed to enjoy it-she liked the lights, the wrapping paper, new toys, and the Christmas music. I can only imagine next year when she is a toddler how even more exciting Christmas will be!
