Olivia's 1st Easter

Easter is always a special time of gathering with our Augusta family (think family togetherness during church services, piles of yummy casseroles and ham and turkey and somewhat competitive Easter egg hunts and badminton tournaments) but this year was made even more noteworthy since it was Olivia’s first Easter. In fact, last Easter I was in active labor, praying and hoping I would have an Easter baby but Olivia had other ideas and arrived the next day! So needless to say, we were excited to watch Olivia experience her first Easter. A few weeks earlier we started practice egg hunts and she became pretty smart about looking under pots and behind items to find plastic eggs to put in her basket.

When the time finally arrived, we headed to Augusta and helped dye eggs (well Olivia sat with her cousins while they dyed eggs since I wasn’t brave enough to let her participate). Afterwards, we went across to a neighborhood park and had another practice egg hunting session. Olivia intently studied each egg she put in her basket and waited on us to clap for her before she went to find the next egg.

Sunday morning was a bit rushed and Olivia wasn’t so happy about putting on tights and a frilly dress so early in the day, but she ended up doing wonderfully at church. We attended my cousins’ church and there was lots of singing so she sat with us during most of the service and behaved perfectly. After church we took some family pictures in our Sunday finest and then headed over to my aunt and uncle’s house for lunch and an egg hunt.

By this point, Olivia was pooped and took a long nap in her travel bed while lots of cousins sat around her watching her sleep! Once she woke up, Olivia was ready to go! She tried lots of the Easter feast and headed outside for egg hunts. Olivia found 2 eggs during the children’s hunt (she spent more time holding Daddy’s hand walking around in the grass and examining the trees). We also found the time to take pictures with her cousin Jack Mason, who is 8 months old, in bunny ears. Many years earlier Brooke and Carter had taken similar pictures wearing bunny ears and sitting in that same chair!

While the weekend was long, and a bit exhausting, we wouldn’t have missed those special moments with family for anything. And of course we have ten zillion pictures to document it, enjoy!

Too cute. I love the sunglasses and am so impressed she behaved in church. I was too scared to take Maxine this year
