First Swim Lessons

On Saturday Olivia joined her cousin Maxine for swim lessons. Mark and I were not sure what to expect since Olivia has not spent much time in a pool yet, but we thought it was important that she become more comfortable in the water. The first class was a bit chaotic with lots of children. Fortunately next week they will split up the class so there will not be as many kids. But regardless Olivia took to the instructor and seemed to enjoy her class. Mark got in the water with her and did a wonderful job acclimating her to the water. Her favorite part of the class was when Mark tossed a foam disk in the water and she "swam" to catch it. She also liked climbing on the edge of the pool and jumping to Mark. We got a good giggle watching Olivia attempt to lay on her back. Even when we give her a bath she absolutely hates laying back to wash her hair so we weren't surprised when she raised her feet and her neck as far out of the water as she could when Mark turned her on her back!

We are looking forward to next week and seeing what Olivia learns this month during swim class. Hopefully we can make it to the neighborhood pool one evening this week to practice.
